Optocoupler
An optocoupler sends a signal between two circuits using light. An LED on the input side shines on a phototransistor on the output side, so the two sides share no electrical connection. It is used to let a low-voltage control circuit switch a separate load safely, and circuits in this tag show an LED input driving a lamp, relay or motor stage that is powered from its own supply.
